As of 1 January 2017, the family of associated countries that are able to fully participate in Horizon 2020 opened also to Switzerland. Consequently, Swiss companies can benefit from the SME Instrument programme, from which they were excluded until now.
Switzeland became a full member after two years of partial association.
Following the ratification of the protocol on the extension to Croatia of the Free Movement of Persons Agreement between the EU and Switzerland from 16 December 2016, Swiss projects are fully eligible for funding and can receive up € 2.5 million and a world-class coaching under the SME Instrument.
The programme provides about €3 billion in funding in the period over 2014-2020. The 2017 budget is almost € 440 million for 13 topics – see more here.
The first cut off of 2017 is 18 January for Phase 2 and 15 February for Phase 1.
